Sweet Tea Festival 2014
September 18, 5 - 8 p.m.
The Birthplace of Sweet Tea will be celebrated this month by hosting another very popular Sweet Tea Festival. A commemorative mug is available for $5 which gives you the opportunity to try all the different types of sweet tea. This month promises to have even more restaurants than last year offering a sampling of their food for a modest price. Hutchinson Square in Downtown Summerville will be the host for all the restaurants wanting you to try their sweet tea and food specialties.
As always, we have some wonderful bands playing this month too. The popular SouthRail Bluegrass Band wrote an original song about sweet tea that they will be playing for the first time! They’re a traditional bluegrass band who have a large following and will once again perform in Hutchinson Square. On Short Central we will have the acoustic, electric duo known as Stono perform. The Charleston Hot Shots will be on Richardson Avenue in front of People, Places & Quilts. They will have you rocking to the beat of their Hawaiian & Blues music, the Ukulele and Hillbilly Jazz. A short distance away you will hear The Ambler Hall Band behind Guerin’s Pharmacy on Little Main Street. They’re known for Country, Folk, Rock and top 40s music. Alan Bibey & Susan Riddle will perform from 5:30 – 7:30 PM inside Single Smile Café on Little Main Street. There will be a dance performance by Kelly’s Dance on Short Central in front of Café Italia at 6:00 PM.
Third Thursdays in Summerville is always entertaining. Come and enjoy the annual Sweet Tea Festival with all the sweet tea and the many food tastings available. Take your time while walking through the many unique boutiques. Enjoy the diverse musical talents we’ll have wafting throughout the historic downtown area. Hope to see you there!
