Summer in the Islands brings thoughts of cool breezes, sun, friends and having fun. Well guess what. We have all that and more in Summerville on the 15th of May! You’ll find lovely streets filled with unique little shops, the most delectable food in our restaurants and music wafting all around you.
Imagine 6 Steel Drum Bands playing together. They will amaze you with their Island music. Each band will delight you when they play separately too. These very talented players are from various Dorchester District 2 Schools:
DuBose Middle School
River Oaks Middle School
Summerville High School
Joe Pye Elementary School
Oakbrook Middle School
Gregg Middle School
Walk around and hear even more music. The Charleston Hot Shots in front of People, Places & Quilts will have you rocking to the beat of their Hawaiian & Blues music, the Ukulele and Hillbilly Jazz. For some different sounds, walk over to The Ambler Hall Band behind Guerin’s Pharmacy and you’ll hear Country, Folk, Rock and top 40s music beginning at 6:00 PM. In front of Town Hall, the William Reeves Elementary School’s Drum Band will captivate you from 5:15 to 5:45 PM. Then you can go just around the corner to Short Central and there will be music by Brady Smith for some Country, Rockabilly and Americana. There will also be live music by Alan Bibey & Susan Riddle from 5:30 – 7:30PM inside Single Smile Café.
Third Thursdays in Summerville is always entertaining. This month promises to wake up your senses with a music extravaganza. See you there!
